| The East Lake Recreation Center acquired a not-new "portable" classroom to fit the growing needs of the Center. In dire need of a coat of paint, the Parks and Recreation Department contacted Frances to see what could be done. The Center's pride is its ballplayers, thus the theme.The weather was most uncooperative during the week the team worked onsite with neighborhood children, many of whom were absent on account of the schools' and Recreation Center's closings The constant rains flooded Chattanooga but always paused between 4 and 7 pm. allowing the team and our small batch of artists to draw and then paint large ballplayers sporting portraits of the children. The almost 2500 square foot building was completed on time in 15 hours with team members Dennis Palmer, Michael Woods and later joined by Nicole Mollet, Derek Taylor and Janis Wilkey. |
