Barking Legs Theater
The director of non profit Copac approached Frances McDonald to create a concept for the twelve
hundred square foot space on the side of her theater facing Dodds Avenue.  Ann Law wanted children
from Eastlake Elementary School to paint the mural.  They decided on a dog band with dog dancers,
symbolizing the activities that take place in the theater; dogs because the name is Barking Legs.  The
words "Live Now, Create the Future" were added in the pictorated sky above the lawn of dogs.
Twenty-five fourth graders plus teachers and parent volunteers were involved for three after school
sessions in November 1999.  The one thousand dollar budget was funded by Allied Arts through an
Arts  and Education grant.

In 2006, the owners of the theatre had
mortar problems; the building would need
patching, so they repainted.
