| SPACEARK: the Ben Miller Building |

| During spring break, April 2003, twenty-eight artists (7-12 years old) from the South Chattanooga Recreation Center gathered to paint this "SpaceArk" on the four sides of the Ben Miller building at Ben Miller Park. Starting with images of motorcycles, vacuum cleaners, blenders: all things mechanical, the artists extrapolated in drawings their own outer space creatures. These images were redrawn in an appropriate size on the four sides of the building as if inside a spaceship looking out the windows. The ship itself was painted silver and elements of instrument panels were added. This project was made possible through an ABCII grant co-sponsored by Allied Arts and Chattanooga Parks, Recreation, Arts and Culture and is funded by a grant from the City of Chattanooga's Department of Community Development; Bob Corker, Mayor. |
