In the fall of 2002, the Clark's Brothers
Furniture Store closed its doors to move
to another location. Rather than paper
the many windows of this historically
significant building, Bob Campbell was
willing to let Frances McDonald hang
self-portraits created by Battle
Academy artists. These forty-seven
portable cloth pieces were painted in
three after school session by some forty
students facilitated by Frances and
Dennis Palmer. The total budget of
$900 was part of the bigger Trains on
Market project. This entire endeavor
was sponsored by Allied Arts of Greater
Chattanooga through private donations.
Fifteen months later, the building sold
and students were finally able to take
their pieces home.
