"THE WALL"  Above Frasier
This page shows pictures of one of two North Chattanooga Murals that were painted on concrete
embankments that straddle the same hill in North Chattanooga just across the river and visible from
downtown.  The both depict what you would see if the embankments wre not there:  underground life
forms: ants beetles, snakes, roots, fossilss, tunnesl...all surrrounded by dirt.  Each wall was painted by
20 participants from either the North Chattanooga Recreation Center or th Frances Wyatt Recreation
Center.  All participants were between seven and fourteen years of age and worked about 15 hours
to accomplish their talk duri9ng the month of April, 2000.  The mural were facilitated by Frances
McDonald and Dennis Palmer.  The total budget of $3300 was funded by an Arts Build Chattanooga
Neighborhoods grant: a Community Block Developments: partnership of Allied Arts of Greater
Chattanooga and Parks and Recreation of the City of Chattanoooga.

Due to its enticing location, the wall was vandalized. In
2006, the city planted holly bushes in front of it.
